I think that we are having a little fun now, no~?
Daphne Devereaux
“Hollow…?” Certainly not deaf enough to miss the verbal tease that she was given by the figure beside her, perhaps the fact that she took a moment of contemplation to 'translate' anything she did not hear in her native french proved key as she whispered the more international term for the supernatural fiends, this provided her with the perfect way to disguise what would otherwise have been a perfect recognition of the term, and instead seemed to provide the means through which she could disguise her understanding.
“I do not know… Ah, le fantôme~? Perhaps this is the truth, you know?” Feigning the fact that she had been hit by a term she did not understand and was as such confused by it, the black belle could tell a whole lot about her bench mate now that he had apparently been prompted to tip his hand so urgently, though had to temper herself for a moment as she played up the role of an amateur rather than the more revealing truth.
“It is as possible as anything, I would say? I think that the police who investigated assumed it was a prank or something to do with the wind…?” As such seeming to wear a smile of amusement as she seemingly turned the suggestion which her new acquaintance had made about the incident in her head, daphne felt glad that his presumption had erred toward the eternal enemy of their race and not someone she felt a little more motivated to defend, and as such offered the more mundane explanation for what had happened courtesy of the more mundane officers who had looked into it.
“There was this theory to do with the building quivering in a gale so much that it made some effect of resonation? Yet, it struck me as a strange guess, given that the day was not especially windy~? I assumed that they merely could not conjure a rational explanation for what had occurred~?” In truth possessing little connection to the somewhat volatile lass who had created this incident with an eruption of her reiatsu but all the same feeling she was better protected from this unknown, the raven was happy to jabber as she revealed not only what now seemed a rather far fetched summary for the event, but her own natural scepticism for it given her first hand experience.
“However, it seems clear that you are more versed in thinking outside the box in this case, perhaps due to your fondness?” Using this as a means to ease the conversation before she made a more apt use of what the lad had seemed to reveal with his immediate presumption, Miss Devereaux showed gentleness and a measure of understanding as she pointed out how Lazarus' thinking seemed to defy common convention, and with it a dash of approval as well so as not to make him too defensive about that fact as well.
“Do you mind if I ask after your own experience with ghosts, then~?” All the while seeming to feel that she had been provided with the perfect opportunity to probe him that bit more on the nature of his comprehension without tipping her hand as to her own as well, such hasty affirmation was the ideal way in which she might frame her own supposed 'ignorance' on the matter as a means toward getting a fuller view of his expertise, and though she suspected he might provide further veils given how their discourse had proceeded thus far also noted a feeling of advantage now as well. She had played this well, no~?
