The British Invasion [Yvanne/Ken/Daphne]

Yvanne really wasn't a big fan of planes.  It wasn't that the airlines didn't do anything for people in wheelchairs, it's just that even with those accommodations it was a pain.  She supposed they really couldn't be blamed, her personal wheelchair was just too big to properly fit on one, and they provided both wheelchairs for getting around the airport and for the aisles of the plane itself.  It just...it still kinda sucked.  Mostly because they weren't electric, she couldn't move herself like she could with her own, moving a wheelchair with one hand while you were sitting in it was...not exactly easy. 

Still it wasn't all bad, at least she had Amelia with her, so she didn't have to have some stranger push her around.  Still it was a long and uncomfortable flight, and it was a relief to be off the plane, even if she still didn't have her wheelchair yet.  "Don't worry, they said they're bringing it out, a member of staff should have it out and waiting for us past the security check."  Amelia replied.  She was a pretty girl, a year or so younger than Yvanne actually.  She had the clan's striking red hair, but unlike Yvanne who had it long and dyed in two colors, hers was cut short, the bangs styled to the side so they partially covered one eye.  She was in a white jacket and jeans, with a shirt beneath that had a skull and crossbones with the phrase 'Do what you want' painted beneath the crossbones. 

"Yeah I know, that was just such a long flight over, and why Japan?  I mean I know a little German, a little French, I never thought to study Japanese!  I've been cramming like crazy since I was told and I don't think I could even form a coherent sentence yet!"

Yvanne had her usual jumpsuit on, with a small crocheted blanket in black and white covering her, right hand drumming impatiently on the arm of the wheelchair as Amelia pushed her along.  Getting through security was easy of course, nothing to hide, and their quincy tools were nothing that would be flagged as anything more than either religious objects or just young adults with flashy bling, so they'd be right on through. 

"Yeah, yeah, I feel you, I mean I already did my little studies abroad out in France, I've been working just as hard to put together anything that'll help me get around on my own."  Amelia said with a sigh as they went through the security check.

Eve and Amelia were going to scan the crowds, they were both looking for an airport employee with Eve's actual wheelchair, but also potentially who was going to be meeting them, supposedly there should be two of them, probably with a sign with their names on it, or at least the Baskerville name on it.

Oh, oh Eve really hoped her uncle had told the clan here about her condition, or this first meeting might be a little awkward.

Another day and another mission from his father. Ken had readjusted back to the Japanese timezone fairly well and had done some adjusting to the local culture, it was not all that difficult it was just a case of learning about all the changes that had happened since he was a young kid. That and the fact he now lived alone in an apartment complex owned by the clan and rented out the many apartments to those that needed it. A few of these were left vacant just in case guests were coming to stay for an extended period of time and couldn’t find their own living arrangements. Which in Japan was fairly common when it came to foreigners.

Today’s mission was actually a fairly easy one, go to the airport and escort a pair of British Quincy who had come here in an exchange program and take them to their accommodation… which happened to be in the same building he was in. Daphne was also asked to help as she had a car and spoke some English just like Ken did, so the pair who were here on exchange could at least meet people they could understand while they learned basic Japanese.

He looked over to his cousin and smiled as he held up the book, a cheeky joke that he thought up the night before. ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ It was quite a clever ploy on his part due to the Quincies coming being from the Baskerville clan. “Yvanne and Amelia will love it, Daphne!” Ken spoke in English; he had been all morning to get used to how the language sat on his tongue. It had been a good while since he had to speak it.

“Oh, they are coming!” He said as his sharp eyes caught signs of people filtering out of the security checkpoint. He wore a big grin on his face as his perpetually ruffled hair helped to frame his excited face as the sunlight shone through the windows behind him. “Yvanne! Amelia! Over here.” He called, not knowing what the pair looked like.

Daphne Devereaux

“You have been looking forward to this all week, haven't you~?” A wry smile seeming to spread across the face of the french fox as she watched a cousin for whom she had noted herself feeling an increasingly sisterly bond with seeming to show off privately but excitedly, Daphne Devereaux couldn't help but grin at the enthusiasm which the lad showed toward this meeting, and though she teased him for it also did so with a definite sense of approval in her voice.
He's kind of like a puppy, no? It's nice to see him happy… Only too clearly seeming to recall how he had spoken of the rejection he had felt when it came to the clans as a whole in the wake of his mother's death, the blue eyed belle could only guess at the complication in the feelings brought on inside him in regard to meeting others of his ilk, and so she only enjoyed his good mood and the energy which accompanied it all the more. It was a relief, really.

“Yes, I think this is them, hm?” Not that she was afforded too much more time to reflect upon his condition before the clamour of bodies leaving the latest arrival seemed to draw both the ear and the eye, the black haired belle confirmed the suspicion of her companion even if she did not mimic his bombastic attempt to seek their attention, and instead remained a little more reserved and aloof, which was often her habit.
A fate I do not envy… As such found quieter as she waited for them to approach her but ultimately far more aware of the duo they sought than her companion thanks to her status as something of a spymaster in this town known as Tokyo, it was easier for the ebony enchantress to recognise the figure in the wheelchair and the woman who pushed her, but as she did so she couldn't help but feel a note of pity for the condition of the former. After all, who wouldn't, right~?

"So let's see...I'm not seeing any Baskerville signs..."  Amelia muttered as the two continued into the airport, looking around.  "Oh, I do see someone standing next to your wheelchair though!"

"Oh really?  Oh thank god, I can't stand these airport wheelchairs."

As the two were getting ready to head towards the airport employee with the chair though, they'd hear a voice calling out their name, which definitely got their attention.  Eve squinted as she tried to look towards them, while Amelia would lift a hand to wave towards the airport employee and signal for him to come over to where they were headed.  At the same time she started pushing Eve over towards the shouting young man. 

"Is that a book?  Wait is that?"  Eve squinted, someone more able bodied would probably be leaning forward too.  "Is that the Hound of the Baskervilles?!"

"Hahahaha, well that's probably easier than bringing along a printing press."  Amelia said with a laugh as the two came over, and oh Ken was in for a surprise. 

Yvanne would smile up at him and Daphne.  "Hello there. I'm Yvanne Baskerville, you're the two sent to meet us?"

"Amelia Augustine, her nurse and...third?  Third cousin, same clan different surname don't worry."  Amelia said brightly while the airport employee came over with the chair.  "Hey thanks, don't worry we've got it from...ah...crap you don't speak English huh?"

Amelia would look at the other two quincy with a slightly pleading expression for help letting the employee know that they had things in hand here.  It was a nice wheelchair for sure, and obviously electric too.  A bit on the bigger side as far as those things went, it even had a small basket on the right side so that Yvanne could keep a few things at hand as she went about her day.

Ken translated the thanks to the airport employees in a perfect Japanese tongue before shrugging his shoulders to the pair that had rolled up to them. “Ken Kaito… And this is Daphne Devereaux, my cousin from my mother’s side.” Ken explained, switching back to English which was accented with a French tint to it. He offered a bow to both of the guests and handed the book to Yyvane.

“Unfortunately we weren’t told of your condition and you were assigned an apartment on the same floor as me.” Ken said with a hint of embarrassment in his tone as he looked around to help the pair with any bags they had while Yvanne was being switched to her good chair. He had heard this Yvanne was wickedly smart and had some great skill with an unusual Bogen style. “Though that shouldn’t bother you though, how’s your Schnell?” He asked, as a bright smile came to his face.

“Oh… when we settle down and can find a pen could you sign the book for me? It was a big part of my English studies when I was in France.” He half joked, presenting it as a method to bond with the new comers that had a strange family history with loss and abandonment similar to his own.

“It is nice to meet you both.” Perhaps noting that at least a little of the land in which she now resided had seemed to take root as she realised that she was dipping forward into a bow for the pair, Miss Devereaux let loose a little sigh as she let the young man among them offer up their introductions, and in turn held out her hand in order to let the two of them shake it in a gesture of greeting of more western emphasis.
Quite the capable little host, isn't he~? Quickly seeming to note how readily it seemed that her young cousin took to the lead between the pair of them, it was intriguing for her to note that a figure who she too often seemed to view as a boy could be quite a measure more authorative when given the opportunity to do so, and as such the french fox felt as keen on seeing just how well he seemed to cope with the duty as she was for getting to know their guests that little bit better.

I shall let him take the lead, then… For this reason the sapphire eyed senior seeming to shrink away just a touch as she allowed the lad an opportunity to flourish before her, while she would be waiting in the wings as it were in the event that he needed her she was happy to take something of a backseat roll, and in fact more comfortable as well. The artist in her did always seem to make her more of an observer in scenes than a participant, right?

“Anglaise is fine, do not worry.” Waving away their concerns as they seemed to worry about how they might cope when speaking the language of the once great empire, though perhaps there may have been some potential for 'cross channel' competition between them Daphne felt perfectly comfortable using their language, which seemed to reflect the activity she had seen in her 'previous life' as it were when delving into the art scene.
“In fact I tend not to butcher it quite as much as Japanese, in truth?” In fact finding that the language of the land of kings and queens was something which rolled off her tongue that much better than what she had been speaking of late, which she couldn't help but feel she might have been developing something of a complex toward. I mean, it wasn't as if she spoke it inaccurately, but also, there felt a certain absence of articulation which still challenged her all the same…

Ken and Daphne, kinda funny those were names someone could have back home, and...they both sounded...French.  Amelia was clearly a bit startled by the accents, or at least by something, while Eve was more looking at the both of them, her expression was pleasant, but she was watching them both carefully.  Ken was a bit embarrassed about where her room was, but seemingly didn't actually care much besides that about her condition.  A good sign, and not something she saw often.  The other was harder to gauge partly because she was letting Ken take the lead.

"It's lovely to meet you both."  Yvanne said pleasantly while Amelia walked around the chair she was in.

"Alright, c'mon Eve, let's get you up huh?"  She'd move the blanket to take Yvanne's left arm and put it around the back of her neck.  Eve would move her right up to grip it as Eve would squat and lift her up out of the chair in a kind of princess carry, before moving to settle her down into her actual wheelchair, adjusting her body so it was sitting right in it and the blanket over top of her.  After that she moved around behind to kneel down and check the battery.  The controls for the wheelchair were on the right side, fixed into the chair's arm of course.  "Annnd we've got power, you're the master of your own destiny once again."

"Thank goodness for that."  Eve said, before moving her chair back just a little bit with a pull on the joystick.  Her expression turned a bit more devious as she looked back towards Ken.  "I'd say my Schnell is decent." It got a snicker from Amelia, who would answer another question.

"We haven't been to get our luggage yet, but just gotta stop and get that and then we can be on our way yeah?"  She was already looking to try and see where luggage pick up was in the airport...maybe they had some signs in English she could read to get there?

"As for your book, well I suppose I can sign it, not like Sir Doyle's around to protest."  Eve joked back.

Ken nodded with a bright smile that seemed to brighten up the already well-lit Narita airport, the confirmation that Yvette’s Schnell was decent made the young man chuckle. It was good she had skills of a spiritual nature to make up for her physical disabilities. With a Schnell and plenty of training any physical ailment could be overcome… or so his father had said.

“Do you need a hand getting all the luggage?” Ken asked Amelia as he moved to stand beside chair bound counterpart. As he did, he looked down and saw the complexities of that powered device and thought of all the things he could do in it and how amazing modern technology was.

“Daphne… do you think your car will fit everything? If not, I can sort a luggage delivery service to bring everything to the apartment complex.” Ken said, wanting to cut off any potential problems they had… Daphne may have had a car, but it was only a small thing, and the powered chair may take up too much room. Those services were cheap and abundant as well, it would allow them plenty of freedoms.

Though if Yvette and Amelia were not comfortable with that… this was going to take multiple trips back and forth and would be a long time.

“Oh, in that case perhaps you and I could fetch the luggage while Madam Baskerville greets her fan~?” The cool coquette coming up with an idea of how to divide and conquer the task before them a little more efficiently when she heard that their new duo had yet to collect their belongings, not only would such an approach seem to provide the woman in the wheelchair a chance to breath and relax but the attendant who brought her too, and no doubt after a long flight together that may just prove useful regardless of how well they got along.
“You can be assured that Ken knows just how to look after a lady~?” Showing every confidence in how the lad would comport himself in their absence as well even if he was with an unknown and possibly vulnerable party, she knew that beneath that giggly exuberance was the heart of a true gentleman who would see any woman protected, and no matter the state of a lady even in the brief time she had spent with her cousin she had learned to trust in his ability to take care of others. Worst case scenario, he could take her to the kitchen, no~?

“You would be surprised with the amount that she can hold, so perhaps we should wait until we see how much we have to carry~?” Raising her brow when he seemed to show that with the concern he shared for the capacity of their wagon as it were, though she was hardly bearing some gigantic land crawler like that which would have been at home in Chelsea Miss Deveraux still showed confidence in her ride and the luggage load it could bear, and a belief that they should find out the size of their challenge before they made a decision either way.
“But worst case we can just have you run behind, no, as our dutiful gentleman~? I am sure your own Schnell will be up to the task~?” Not that she wasn’t happy to levy a little humour toward the issue as well for that matter and as such calling attention to a certain pecking order in regard to chivalry, the blue eyed belle bobbed her brows as she teased the teen on alternative arrangements, and highlighted with it how certain of their gifts would be enough to render a vehicle obsolete anyway. I mean, with her own Hirenyaku she could likely pip them to the post by quite a distance if she wanted, no~? Of course, her trust in the lad bringing her ride to her in the aftermath of this was more limited, however, especially when she expected it in one pristine piece…

While Eve wasn't planning on showing it, the comment about the car did have her wince mentally.  It really seemed like they hadn't been told anything about her, and most cars couldn't fit an electric wheelchair and the person in it, at least not easily and comfortably.  Usually it wasn't too hard to fit just the chair somewhere and have her just...sit limply in a seat.  If this car wasn't a van of some sort that was probably what Eve was going to have to do, oh well. 

At the suggestion that Daphne and Amelia go get the luggage the redhead jumped.  "Ah sure, uhhh..."  Amelia looked around the airport and at the signs written in what was to her English poisoned brain nothing but random squiggles.  "Luggage pick up is...this way?"  Of course if corrected she'd immediately just fall in line with what Daphne said instead and the two could head over to get the girls' luggage.  Not counting the carry-on bag that each girl had, their luggage came in three large suitcases.  One was particularly heavy, and Amelia would get that one herself.

Back where Eve had been left with Ken though she'd reach her one good hand up to try and snag the book from him and set it on her lap, before she'd produce a pen from somewhere and pull the cap off with her teeth.  "Sorry about the lack of warning...I woulda thought my uncle would have given you guys a heads up about my condition."

She'd open the book with just the one hand, showing an impressive bit of dexterity to open and hold the book open and then sign the inside of the cover, all with just her right hand.  "And there, a signed copy of the Hound of the Baskervilles."  She said cheekily, closing the book and offering it back to him

Ken looked to Daphne and gave her a wry grin at the mention of his schnell. Even his level could outrun a car. The issue was being seen by ordinary humans who had no comprehension of the spiritual world. Flaunting spiritual powers was one of the crimes the Quincy swore to not to commit, if powers were to be used it was to be away from the eyes of the public.

“It’d be tricky with how busy Tokyo is… but I could probably beat you there.” The young man said before shaking his head and pulling up his phone. The motorised chair alone was going to take up most of the car. A luggage service was going to have to be used.

As Daphne and Amelia left the two younger Quincy were left to sign the book. “Don’t worry about it. I quite like surprises, the other day I got between two Arrancar having a fight in a mall.” He explained as he watched her deftly take his book and sign it with just one hand. Living in such a condition would force one to improve what little they had, it was quite admirable to see someone adapting and surviving to their lot in life. It was just a shame that Eve had been sent to Japan… she was going to have a hard time with the stares and vile whispers of some of the elderly locals.

“Thanks!” Ken replied as he took her book and stretched his arms out to get a look at it from a distance. “Don’t suppose you get many people making that joke back where you come from?”

Eve chuckled softly seeing him boast that he could probably beat the car there. Honestly given how fast Schnell propelled even a half-way proficient user that was probably true, although she didn't think it'd be that hard to avoid getting spotted as long as you didn't stop moving. 

"Two arrancar having a fight where?  What?"  That took Yvanne off guard though, "What the hell were they doing there?"  She caught herself, and shook her head.  "Well anyways, I get that joke..."  She sighed, "All the time.  Sherlock is about the only thing the UK is known for and that's one of the most famous stories.  Just once I'd like someone to make a printing press joke instead..."  What the hell was that supposed to mean?

The young man watched how Eve was caught off guard with his comment about the Arrancar, it was a whole tale that he had to tell her and his cousin. Not one for now as it was too busy in public, most people wouldn’t get what they were saying but there was always a chance a person around here was hiding their spiritual powers and looking to cause trouble.

He nodded slowly not entirely getting the joke about printing presses, he barely remembered who the author of the Hound of the Baskervilles was, let alone any other smart puns in the English language. “I never got to visit much of England while I lived in France, spent most of my time training and when I did go it was to see London.” He explained, reminiscing on his trip a few years ago. He had gone with his mother to see a show in the fancy theatres of the city. They were nice memories… but they still hurt.

That hurt didn’t show however he looked over to the side and wondered when the two who went to get the bags would show back up. They had to figure out getting the luggage un or strapped to the car as well as the Electric Wheelchair. “Sorry again, for your uncle and my father not communicating all that well. I think that’s a big issue in all the clans.”

"Well if it makes you feel any better, I've never been to France at all."  Eve replied cheerfully as she tapped her fingers against the arm of her chair.  Hopefully they weren't waiting much longer.  The two didn't have a huge amount of luggage but some of it was...bulky given Eve's condition.  It took more than just a chair to keep her healthy. 

She did pout a little, didn't even question the printing press comment huh?  Did he already know or was he just not interested?  Well she thought it was interesting!  "Honestly I wouldn't even blame your father.  I doubt my uncle even tried to communicate a thing.  It's a miracle he even mentioned there'd be two of us."  Well there was obviously some bad blood there.

Daphne Devereaux

“The women of the tribe return from the hunt~!” The foxy Frenchwoman returning to the scene with her arms laden with all the luggage that her partner in carriage would permit her and a buoyant step in her stride, it always felt good for her to help someone in need and so did it seem to show in her mood as she spoke with a playful tone in her reintroduction, and encroached upon the duo which she had left behind a matter of moments ago with a smile on her face.

“How are we doing here?” Glad to see from the looks of things that the two were still getting along as well, though honestly unsure of how they might take a turn south given the personalities involved and the short time she had been away, though Daphne could guess that after such a long flight that their guests would be keen on getting somewhere comfortable or at the very least seeing the sights of their new locale she did not wish to rush them, and so let them dictate the pace.
“Are we ready to partir~?” Happy to act as a mere hand to move their belongings and a chauffeur once they reached her cute little automobile, she felt confident now that she had seen what they had brought they could fit both it and their passengers into the vehicle, and if they were lucky do so without even needing to strap her cousin to the roof for transit as well. Though, that was an idea she wouldn't fully rule out, of course~
