Lenalee #8
Lenalee’s eyes widened as the monster revealed itself, being far larger than she expected it to be; however, they did not open so wide with fear. Quite the contrary, as the girl was immediately drawn in by the challenge, as she had no doubt that its size alone would not be enough to destroy them, but would make things a little bit more difficult than the standard drills and training they had endured. Most of all, Shiro was so very right… the real thing is nothing like the simulation. The girl’s hands were immediately pressed up against the glass as she stood right beside Shiro so that the pair probably looked like a couple of crazed window lickers. “This is incredible… it’s putting up a fight already and they’ve only just begun…”
As Yorutatsu spoke in such a bored manner, Azai’s stare only grew less amused by the second. The woman’s yawn was the final straw as Captain Saeki’s eyes narrowed at the audacity of the white haired menace who dared to call herself a role model, a responsibility that inherently came with the title of captain, and then treat their students with this disregardful attitude at a time that could quite literally make or break every single one of them. With a gentle hum and a nod, she acknowledged Captain Yorutatsu’s response to their deal and watched the fight ensue below.
Feeling Shiro’s eyes on her, Lenalee turned her head to look at Shiro, a little smile appearing on her curled lips as she giggled softly and nodded. “Yeah. They seem to be holding up quite well too, I wonder if we’ll actually get a chance to go up against this hollow or not. They seem to have it under control.” The short examinee faced the arena again to watch the duo’s plan slowly unfold. In her eyes, they were doing everything right and were likely to succeed at this task.
“Yes.” Captain Saeki replied to Adachi, nonchalantly and quietly, before shifting in her seat to reveal that perhaps she wasn’t as comfortable with her answer as she seemed. “You may think less of me for it, but I’m not letting her take Asami’s boy,” she whispered as she glanced at him with a brief pause.
Lenalee gasped as their former colleague was impaled by the hollow’s tail, the scream filling the air and everything taking on such a heavy aura. Before she could even react to what was happening, its form was shifting. He’s dead… the hollow just killed him! This is bad! she thought to herself, her gaze first moving to the seated captains, hoping they would do something, anything, that could save the student’s life. Suddenly, the glass shattered and Shiro was out of the safety of their observatory. “Shiro!” She called out to him as her partner was now fighting the hollow - no… this wasn’t just a hollow anymore…
“Shiro, what are you doing, that hollow is in the process of becoming an Arrancar this second!” She screamed at him as she leapt through the open window and into the arena. “This is insane, we can’t go up against this!” while she spoke those words, however, the cogs of her mind were turning as she mentally cycled through all the kido spells that she had at her disposal.
Swiftly raising her hand by her side, her tongue rattled away an incantation. "Blow away! Exorcise, wave and seal! Begone you black dog of Rondanini!” She exclaimed as an orb of light blue energy began to form at her little palm while she ran at the arrancar to squeeze into any gap that she could find between Shiro and this monster. “Bakudo #8, Repulse!” As she merely touched the arrancar’s body, she focussed her energy into the blue orb that repelled the beast only a few metres back, as it seemed that even Lena’s kido skills wouldn’t be enough for an easy fight. “We have to get out!” She turned to Shiro, then looked up at the Captains’ panel once more, “Put the exam on hold! This is insane, no student at our level can be expected to take on a newly formed Arrancar! This arena has turned into a death trap!”
Azai had risen to her feet and was now watching her own daughter pleading - or demanding would be a more accurate word - for the examination to be stopped. The woman seemed to be considering it for a moment until she turned to Yorutatsu. “One minute,” she uttered and returned to her seat, partly with confidence in both Shiro and Lenalee, and partly shame for allowing this to continue.
“Captain Yorutatsu, Captain Toshiro!” for such a small girl, Lenalee’s voice travelled very well as a hint of desperation crept into it when she witnessed Azai simply go back to sitting and watching. “Captain Saeki! Mum!”
