Fireworks were still popping all around the city, as usual the new year was a night of celebration for the masses. For the Quincy it was just another night of work. Cities were always rife with souls of the recently deceased and because of that Hollows that hunted them, occasionally those Hollows sought more live pray. No matter what the monsters hunted any form of intervention, be it Quincy, Shinigami or the rare Fullbringer, caused collateral damage and witnesses had to be… dealt with.
A man sat alone in a dimly lit office; his face illuminated by a computer monitor. The bags under his blue eyes spoke volume as to how long he had been working. A stack of paper sat to one side and beneath his pen were reports of increased spiritual activity in Tokyo and the question to if the Rossi clan who controlled New York would send aid.
“The Kaito Clan cannot handle what’s going on in their own back yard?” The man grunted as he tugged on his black tie to loosen it before popping the top button on his white shirt. With a sigh he marked some notes on to the page before looking at the monitor.
On the screen was report of a local crime family, the fact they had been linked to several robberies lately but only by calling cards that were left nearby. Other than that, there was no evidence of their involvement, nothing physical at least. That was going to be an assignment for some of his clan members in the coming days.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door, it caused the slightly dishevelled paper pusher looked over. “Come in.” He spoke dully, sliding the last report to the side to be finished later. The door opened to a younger face, fully dressed in his suit. The boss on the other hand had his jacket hanging on the back of his office chair, his short hair messy from his hand being run through it.
“S-sir… It’s bad. The Hell Knights attacked in London; the Chief of Chiefs is dead.” The young Quincy said as he opened the door and walked into the office. This was bad news.
“Now? Why now!?” The elder of the Quincy paor spoke. His fists slammed into the table as he stood up. “Increase the patrols of New York and get my brother. I am throwing my name into the running for the next Chief of Chiefs.”
“Yes Mr. Rossi. Your brother is on his way to London already to help with the investigation.” The youngster replied, having not taken a step further into the room. From his right wrist a Quincy cross dangled from a chain. “I will go and instruct each squadron of the increased patrols.” He added before sliding backwards and pulling the door closed.
The remaining Quincy picked up the phone that was on his desk and started to make a call. After a few rings it connected. “Hey, yeah, it’s Paulie. I’m going to start calling in those favours.”

“You know that last job was stupid.” A young man said as he walked down the main Highstreet, surrounded by people each going about their own business. His green eyes focused on the young woman that walked beside him. “All we got was an anxious old artifact and attention from the Quincy, if we aren’t too careful the Shinigami might get involved too.”
The woman scoffed as she brough an iced tea to her cherry red lips. Her long hair was curled to rest on her shoulders, and she looked away into some of the pricier looking shops on the high street. “The Shinigami never get involved with the living. We aren’t messing with Pluses or baiting Hollows… to much.” She said before taking a sip from her drink out of a straw.
“No. We just baited hollows right outside of a Quincy compound while you and Lexi forced your way into Chinese National Reserve. It’s a wonder the police haven’t got the country on lockdown.” The man spoke, he was using English, a language most Chinese in the city didn’t understand.
“And make a scene that ghosts robbed a vault that only contained ancient artifacts?” The woman responded. “Kai, you’re getting too careful. The government here doesn’t even know how to use these ancient Fullbrings.”
“No, Clara, you went on a job without doing the right prep work or telling me. You’re getting too arrogant. You’ll end up making mistakes and we’ll get caught.” Kai responded, keeping his tone neutral but not stifling the annoyed sigh that followed. “Those things are invested with so much Spirit Energy they have a will of their own now. If it goes off in public, it can cause chaos!”
“Yes, yes. I remember the Murasame job. That sword activated and caused a Tsunami that killed thousands. We’re treating these relics with more care.” Clara replied, sounding like a kid who had just been scolded for the thousandth time.
The pair stopped their walk beside a larger man, muscular and well dressed. He was looking into a suit store with a ponderous look and a hand on his chin. “That Gigai fits you well Diego, we paid that witch well.” Clara said with a bright smile, patting the larger man on his arm.
“Si, Kai’s works well too. I cannot feel any spiritual pressure from him at all!” Diego said with a hearty chuckle. “Where is Lexi?” He asked with a raised brow, looking between the smaller pair. His reddish-brown eyes filled with a vibrance and life that the dead should not have.
“Babysitting our new toy, Goujan. Apparently, he is curious after sleeping for so long in that tomb, then vault.” Clara again added as Kai sighed, shaking his head in the background.
“She should join us later before we set off to get out of here.” Kai added, spinning on his heel and beginning to walk again. “You won’t get a Suit that fits you here Diego. When we are in the U.S we can go to a tailor.”
The other two turned and started to walk behind Kai without saying a word, they knew they had a few more jobs to do all over the world before they were scheduled to go to America. That meant the Arrancar in his Gigai was not going to get a new suit for quite a while.
