Personality and Appearance
Personality:
- Notable characteristics:
Haughty. Babette is a proud woman. Proud of her blood, proud of her mission, and proud of her strength. Pride is a virtue to her, cardinal to your worth, because without pride in the life you've lived, you're better off dead. Babette wields a measuring stick that can just as quickly be turned on those she's dismissed as not up to the par to the standard she holds herself and others to.
Protective. Babette would rather be mauled herself than see it happen to another human. Sometimes protecting others means just that. Often times, it just means slaughtering the offender before they're able to do any harm. Regardless, Babette is willing to do the most to protect others from harm.
Intense. Babette is ruled by her emotions. This isn't to say she's hotheaded or impulsive, but she feels deeply and doesn't hide it. She trembles when she's scared, she snarls when she's angry, and when she's happy, she leaps for joy. Babette isn't someone to be silenced or forgotten - she's too purely human, for better or worse.
Obsessive. Babette possesses an uncanny force of will. That doesn't mean she's particularly exceptional at focusing, just that she's poor at letting go of intrusive thoughts. She's prone to paranoia and intense passion that get the best of her rationale, interpreting this as flashes of insight or some more divine intervention. No matter how it's said, it's clear that Babette doesn't forgive, doesn't forget, and certainly doesn't relent. It's worth noting that it's this single mindedness that inspired her crusade against the spiritual beings.
Curious. Babette is interested in the novel differences between herself and others, like how they dress and the way they talk. Though she doesn't always respect these differences, she's virtually always willing to learn. Especially from those she considers her betters.
Repressed. Despite her openness with her feelings, Babette isn't good at making friends. She never has. She's used to being alone with her thoughts, whatever that means, and trying to push yourself into that space or make her open up is just going to make her irate and comfortable.
- Goals:
Babette has no aspiration greater than fighting as her people do. She seeks to enforce the dimensional borders her people helped establish and slay renegade spiritual agents wherever they may appear. That aside, she wishes for nothing and see's no other future for herself than dying to a Hollow or Shinigami.
Appearance:
- Description:
Babette is a young woman of average height but especially athletic build, with definition and size in spades that is frequently hidden under her baggy attire. She has a naturally sun-kissed complexion and downturned, sky-blue eyes that are proactively taking in her surroundings. Her fashion sense skews noticeably to Quincy wear, her favored outfit being a white high-collar pullover with long sleeves and thick silver buttons on the neck, and black fatigue pants and hiking boots. She wears her grayed hair to ear-length without styling it, often ending up with bangs that hang in front of her eyes, and her lips in a tight-lipped natural frown that makes her seem perpetually disappointed with her object of focus.
All this said, she really stands out for her more often than not disheveled appearance. She's always either wearing bandages, or a sling or cast around her extremities. Her hair is matted in clumps she never makes any attempts to comb out, the liveliness in her eyes is diminished by a pervasive fatigue, and her Quincy garb is frayed at the cuffs and has been poorly repaired several times. Even her complexion is pallid and sickly.
- Alternate Outfits:
Babette doesn't change up her look frequently, or extensively. But every few months, she'll shave her whole head when it grows out too long for her liking. Her current wardrobe is mostly static, except that she'll occasionally substitute her pullover for a fleecy brown coat of fur tied at the midsection with a white belt. Though she only does this when she's cold, or expects to get cold.

Strength
STARTER - Trait Name: The Fury
Trait Description: Babette's ideal range is anywhere between one foot longer than her weapons cutting edge, and one foot shorter - the latter being a position where employing the sword is awkward without a full range-of-motion, and grappling and other such hand maneuvers are quicker and oftentimes more effective. She's trained for both considerations. Babette can exert force with a blade to wound from any position, even if her blade were touching you already, and her physical competence in a grapple enables a crushing force that means very few get away when she's put her hands to them.
Agility
-
Endurance
STARTER - Trait Name: The Mountain
Trait Description: There isn't a force on this Earth that can make a South School Quincy move, if they intend to stand you down. Babette can withstand virtually all efforts to displace her, if physical force is all she has to worry about. This similarly translates to withstanding force on the advance.
Reiatsu
-
Bogen
STARTER - Aspect Name: Muschelbogen (Shell-arch)
Aspect Name Description: Muschelbogen hones the strengths of Bogen, grafting its armaments of war to the body itself. The intent being to bring out the full potential of the human physique and the tool through each other, muschelbogen creates an exoskeleton structure to enhance their existing strength while simultaneously bracing the body. A crude imitation of patterns seen in nature and myth - the crafting of a man into a perfect beast.
Schnell
-
Blut
STARTER - Aspect Name: Blutknoten (Blood Knot)
Aspect Name Description: Blut is a power that protects, and Blutknoten one that preserves. Through manipulations of internal viscera not too dissimilar to the fundamentals of Blut that brace the body, Blutknoten stabilizes to prevent further deterioration, creating bloodless wounds, binding bone and eviscerated organs, and staving off shock from similarly massive trauma. It's not much of an ability for minor, technical use however - Blutknoten is a heavy-handed first-aid measure, but an effective one.

Fighting Styles
Fighting Style: South Quincy School
Description: Swordsmanship and archery taught to Babette by a school of Quincy based in Japan's mountains. Longbow and longsword fencing is supplemented with hellish drilling in crags and caves that trains the spirit and body both. The result is a simple but overwhelming style that achieves a competent foundation of offense and defense, becoming one in the same in the school's philosophy. Blut is also trained extensively in the process, becoming another keystone in the style's success.
Schrift Abilities:
- Name: D - The Dragon
- Description: The Dragon is a font of pure energy, a cup that is bottomless, but overflows when Babette wills it to. While active, it grants access to spiritual energy far exceeding the users limit, increasing the potency of any application of their Quincy training. Arrows will be stronger and Blut based defenses denser simply because more energy can be infused in them all, and with reckless abandon because of the users exponentially greater energy reserves.

Reiatsu
Trait Name: Overflow
Trait Description: The Dragon gives Babette access to a constantly regenerating reserve of energy, such that she can use her strongest spiritual attacks over and over again and never even near its bottom.
Aspects Gained:
Aspect Name: Energy Manipulation
Aspect Description: The Dragon is a power already just barely contained by the walls of Babette's soul. Because of that, she doesn't have the same difficulty's as anyone else in letting it off. Her control is much less precise than a spellweavers, but the output is the same as a crashing tidal wave.

Techniques:
Technique Name: Steinzmetz (石裁 ( いしさば), Ishisaba; German for Stonecutter, Japanese for Stone Judgement)
The South School variation of the standard Quincy Holy Arrow. A simple swipe done with the sword to cast out a concentrated crescent of reishi. The attack frequency is pitiful compared to the typical arrows used by Quincy, but Steinzmetz has greater destructive potential, hence the name.
Technique Name: Rasotengai (乱装天傀, Heavenly Wild Puppet Suit)
A technique developed by Quincy as a whole and passed down to Babette to allow her to continue her crusade even when her body has failed her. Reishi strings are created to control body parts in a telepathic manner, letting the user fight through broken bones, paralysis, old age, or anything else that would impede their normal movements.
Technique Name: Puppenkreiger (German for Puppet Warrior)
A technique that blends swordplay and Rasotengai's body-puppeteering properties. Babette draws her sword back into a power strike and uses the puppet strings to forcibly swing with greater strength than could be managed on her own. A technique designed to bring her offensive capability past the limits of her human body. Unsurprisingly, the technique is highly detrimental to her health but possesses transcendental strength and speed in compensation for the risk.
Backstory
When the Quincy race dispersed into clans, Babette's predecessors settled into Shikoku's secluded mountain ranges in search of a place of power to establish their clan house. They became survivalists, temple keepers, and foresters, integrating into society to protect the lands that would also become their most popular training grounds. They were also the most belligerent in future conflicts with Shinigami. They targeted them as freely as Hollow's, openly wearing tattered officer's garbs and reclaimed zanpakuto as trophies of war. Even in current times of peace, where such behaviors are considered savage antiquities, the clan ends cooperation with Shinigami as soon as any unifying threats are neutralized. Seeing them off through their Senkaimon is as much a statement as it is a formality. Throughout their whole history, the clan has kept a clear creed: the dead should roam with the dead.
The first thing Babette was taught was fear. Fear of the spiritual beings residing in worlds parallel to theirs and fear for her life and the lives of her loved ones. She learned this fear was good. That fear made you powerful because fear came from hate and it came from love, and there were no forces more powerful than the burning desire for life and a thirst for your enemy's blood. And so she learned to shape that fear into a shining sword keener than any other because she needed to cleave into a future where humanity could be safe.
Babette grew up on the road, moving between temples and crags and hot springs for training. She went alone with her parents, but had many siblings. All of whom were more casual about their training, had volunteered to help manage a clan property in the civilian world instead, or were outright absent for school or work. This made her parents desperate for a Quincy warrior who was true to their blood among their increasingly normal progeny. So they spoon fed Babette the old sentiments. Warrior's dogma and horror stories of the world's beyond theirs that her clan held back valiantly. She happily devoured her peoples history where her parents neglected to teach her anything else, cheering at their victories and weeping for fallen heroes. Hollow's and Shinigami both had faces before her first real encounter with either. Of course, she killed the former and begrudgingly let the latter return to Soul Society. But those old stories painted Babette's understanding of the spirit world for years to come.
Milestones came and went in Babette's training. It became common for her to make pilgrimages by herself, studying under masters across Shikoku to finalize her formal training. She neglected clan politics despite her parents subtle influences, but her zeal for the Quincy's purpose was recognized in earnest by the leaders she interacted with. They organized to send her to Honshu, where she could collaborate with other Quincy families as an ambassador, and as a final test of strength. If she passed, she was encouraged to build a new seat for their family to exist in Tokyo. It was through this that Babette came to be in Karakura Town, hunting Hollow's and looking to make contact with local Quincy.
